This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies alestack.com uses and why. The short version: we use essential cookies to keep members signed in, your browser's local storage for course progress, and privacy-friendly first-party analytics. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They can be "essential" (needed for the site to function, like keeping you signed in) or "non-essential" (analytics, advertising). Local storage is a related browser feature that stores data on your device without sending it to the server.
What we use
Essential cookies
- Members session cookie, set by our publishing platform (Ghost) when you sign in, so you stay signed in as you move around the site. Removed when you sign out.
Local storage (functional)
- Course progress, which lessons you've opened, stored on your own device so your course dashboards work. This never leaves your browser.
- Cookie consent choice, remembers the choice you make in our cookie banner.
First-party analytics
- We use Ghost's built-in, first-party analytics to count page views in aggregate. It does not use advertising identifiers and does not follow you across other websites. If you choose "Essential only" in our cookie banner, we stop these analytics pings from your browser.
Payment pages
- When you start a paid membership, checkout happens on Stripe, which sets its own cookies for security and fraud prevention. See Stripe's privacy policy.
What we don't use
No advertising networks, no social-media pixels, no cross-site trackers, no selling of data derived from cookies. What you do on your own time is none of our business.
Your choices
- Use the cookie banner to choose "Essential only" if you prefer no analytics.
- Your browser lets you block or delete cookies entirely; note that blocking essential cookies will prevent member sign-in from working.
- Clearing your browser's local storage resets your locally saved course progress.
